This FAQ was designed to provide an answer to the most frequently asked questions about letterman jackets. If you are looking for a step-by-step guide to designing and ordering a jacket, read our free tutorial “How to Order”, which will walk you through the process.
How much time will it take to receive my Jacket?
Since your Varsity Jacket is unique and customized, the materials are spread and cut when ordered. All our featured designs are custom made to order, nothing is 'in stock'. Expedited shipping does NOT equal expedited completion of your jacket, it only changes the mode for shipping. We post all production times at the very top of our website. In-stock items are clearly marked with IN STOCK so that you know it's timeline is different than custom items. In stock jackets and sweaters with embroidery or chenille become custom items and are subject to custom timelines as posted on the site.
What kind of guarantee will I get?
Your satisfaction is important to us. Any garment found to be defective will be replaced or repaired at our cost. We offer a 90 day guarantee on all seams on made to order jackets. If any seam ever opens, for any reason, we will repair it at no charge.
What if my jacket or sweater does not fit?
The size of the jacket or sweater that you order will be the size you receive. Unfortunately, there is a no return policy if you order the wrong size jacket or sweater. Please check your size carefully. If a jacket or sweater is sent to you and it is a size other than what you ordered it will be replaced at our cost.
Out of what materials are your letterman jackets manufactured?
Just like top sporting goods stores throughout the United States, we offer only the highest quality genuine leather sleeves and soft melton wool bodies on all of our letterman jackets. Our employees and management believe strongly that a once-in-a-lifetime investment should be built to last; that is why we refuse to sell the faux leather, vinyl or lesser quality wool you may see advertised elsewhere for under $100.
What is Chenille?
Chenille is a fabric made with fringed silken thread used as the weft in combination with wool or cotton. At VSA chenille is used for various products including patches, year/dates, logos, bars, chevrons, and numbers to list a few. Customers most commonly use chenille to customize their Varsity Jackets. What are the "standard placements" for patches?
The illustration and image below shows some of the standard places you'll find patches for graduation year, bars, athletics or academics patches and names. This is by no means the rule however. We encourage you to let us know in the "Special Patch Instructions" if you want your grad year on the pocket for example or some other deviation from what we consider to be standard. The more information you provide the better off we are in getting you exactly what you want. In a pinch you can always e-mail or call us to discuss.
What is the difference between varsity jackets, letterman jackets, and letter jackets?
There is no difference; they are all the exact same product, identical in every way. The term used at your local high school, college, or organization is largely the result of regional preference.
Should I get the back of my letterman jacket personalized with embroidery or a custom chenille name?
Although the decision is largely based on what is popular in a particular region of the country, many of our customers make the choice based entirely upon their own personal preference. One of the most popular options we offer is to add custom chenille patches on the back of the letterman jackets and embroider the student's name on the front chest.
Are the colors shown on VSA Custom, the actual colors of the materials in my jacket?
Not all computer monitors have the same resolution or are using the same video cards. Therefore, it's very hard to display the actual true colors of our materials. We use standard colors in the industry. If you have a question on specific colors, please send us an email to: info@VSAcustom.com.
Does my jacket require special care or cleaning?
Yes. Since your Jacket is made from the finest materials available (Wool and Leather) your jacket should ONLY be cleaned by professionals (Dry clean).
Do you ship outside the Continental US?
Yes. We can ship to any US Military base as well as to almost anywhere in the world. We've shipped jackets as far as Croatia! Please be advised that VSA is NOT responsible for any customs or duties required by your country when ordering online.
Why is my signature required for UPS shipments?
Because of the high dollar value of many of our items we want to be 100% sure that your purchase makes it to you and not to a thief or accidentally to the neighbor down the street. To protect your item(s) we require a signature at delivery so that nothing is lost or stolen upon arrival!
Is my on-line credit card transaction safe?
Yes it is. Security is provided by 128 Bit encryption technology. The data you enter on your checkout pages, including credit card information, is encrypted while traveling the Internet so it cannot be intercepted for fraudulent use. You'll know your transaction is secure when a "complete key" icon appears in the lower-left hand corner of your Netscape Navigator screen, or a "lock" icon appears in the lower-right hand corner of your Internet Explorer screen.
Which credit cards do you accept for payment?
We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express!
Do you accept Credit card payments over the telephone?
We can certinaly process your order via telephone and you will always receive an e-mailed receipt. For anything standard we recommend you use our secure site to order.
What is your policy on Trademarked or copywritten symbols?
All trademarks, logos and services are registered property of their respective owners and copyright holders. Customers are solely responsible for obtaining proper written permission and licenses needed from the owner of the trademark, logo, copyright, and services in order for use. Trademarks, logos, copyrights, and services can not be used in a manner which infringes upon a protected right or copyright. Customers can not use any trademarks, logos, copyrights, and services in a dishonorable or unlawful manner. VSA Custom Apparel assumes no responsibility or liability for any unauthorized, improper or illegal use of trademarks, logos, copyrights, and services resulting from a customer in which is applied to products ordered or purchased by the customer through VSA Custom Apparel. Customers agree to defend that VSA Custom Apparel is to be held fully harmless from any and all claims, suits, or actions and from all costs combined with attorney's fees, alleging that the products ordered or purchased by the customer infringes upon a protected right or copyright.
